The Proposal!!!!

I wanted to write the story of my proposal!  Matt did such a great job!

I came home from work to this card and these roses sitting by my bed.  The card said, "Pack your bags we are headed for a warmer climate tomorrow morning."
Aren't they gorgeous?!  He did such a great job!  What a surprise!!
After knowing that this could potentially be the proposal day, I immediately called my sister, and we both went shopping for the perfect outfit.  We would send text messages back and forth, and finally came up with this...

The next morning Matt and I took the Metro to the Reagan Airport.  I had no idea where we were going!  What a surprise!!!!
Matt checked us in for our flight, but still would not tell me where we were going....
Before we got to the gate he told me we were flying to Florida for the day!  We flew to Ft. Myers Airport.
This is a picture when we are waiting for our car ride to the beach!  We ended up going to Sanibel Island.
Sanibel Island is known for having the best seashells in America!  It was gorgeous, and the weather was perfect.  It was sunny and 70 degrees.
Matt lead me to a quiet part of the beach where we were all alone saying the seashells were bigger and better.  We then began to find seashells, and would show each other the new charms we found. As I was down on the ground looking Matt said come look at this one!  I turned around and he was down on one knee with the ring.  It was the most magical experience.  One I will never forget.  I of course said YES!
It was so much fun to spend the rest of the day on the warm beach together, as a newly engaged couple.

We flew back to Washington DC that night.  What a perfect and romantic day!  I love him so much!  I am the luckiest girl in the Universe!!

Our Story!

In June of 2010 my friend Melinda and I decided to go to a summer Soiree.  It was in a town called Purcellville, VA.  We dressed in white and beige.  Here is what it looked like when we first arrived.
There were a lot of people at the party and we had a lot of fun.  We met a lot of new friends.  While we were both talking to our new friend Erik, his friend Matt walked up behind him.  I just remember thinking that he was tall, and cute.  Matt and I started talking, and I learned that he loved to play basketball (that's my type of guy!)  Matt and Erik decided to go, and Matt never asked for my number so I just figured he was not interested.

I wish I would have taken a picture with the two of us, but this picture is the best I have.  Matt is the guy in the beige shorts and white shirt with his head cut out of the picture.
After the party Melinda told me Erik got her number.  I did not think anything would happen between Matt and I, but a week after we met Erik and Melinda set us up on a double date with them.  We went to Chevy's for dinner, and then watched a movie.  The dinner conversation went really well and we actually had a lot in common!  Matt is a twin too!!!

He also loves to play basketball and tennis.  A few days after our first date Matt asked me to go play tennis.  We ended up playing a tie breaker, and I barely beat him!  He went on a vacation to NH, UT, CA, and Africa for the whole month of July.  When he came back in August we were always together. I knew there was something special about him!!!

Wedding Day Bliss!

We are married!!! Matt and I were married in The Salt Lake Temple on May 19!!  It was the happiest day of my life!  The sealing was amazing and something I will never forget.

When we got out of the temple it was raining, but it did not ruin anything... I have heard that it is very good luck if you have rain on your wedding day.

Taking pictures in the rain was a bit of a challenge.  We had a white garbage bag, and we would place that where I was going to stand so my dress would not get wet or dirty.  Then we would hurry and drop our unbrellas, take a few pictures, and then put them back up.
It was amazing to see so many of our wonderful friends and family.  We are blessed with so much love and support.
